Energy For life

The government is actively encouraging home owners and businesses to reduce carbon emissions by up to 20% by 2020. From April 2010 the (FIT) tariff changes and for every unit of renewable energy produced 41.3p will be paid.

Photovoltaic technology produces free and clean electricity from the sun’s radiation. Already used in many small scale facilities such as pocket calculators and on a larger scale can be used to supplement a home, school, office, or factories electricity supply.

A typical Photovoltaic installation consists of easily installed panels of wafer-thin silicone layers on the roof which produce direct current electricity when light shines on them; an inverter to convert the DC current to AC suitable for utilisation anywhere in a house or for export into the National Grid and a meter to measure the performance of the system. An Export meter which replaces the existing meter is the only part of a properties electrical system that will be affected.
